TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Robotics) (Embedded Electrical Systems): Building complete electrical systems for a consumer robotics program, from subsystem design and schematic capture through PCB development, firmware integration, validation, and production support with an accent on embedded design, manufacturability, and cross-functional hardware integration. Focus on designing robust systems, debugging prototypes and interfaces, and integrating electrical hardware with firmware, controls, and mechanical systems.

Location: Huntington Beach or San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 USD base salary

Company

Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company developing autonomous defense platforms and a new non-defense consumer robotics program.

What you will do

  • Design critical electrical subsystems from ideation through production, balancing performance, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Develop validated hardware through schematic capture, PCB development, bring-up, and production support.
  • Develop firmware for tightly integrated hardware platforms.
  • Partner with mechanical, hardware, software, firmware, and controls engineers to build robust complete systems.
  • Communicate technical risks and solutions clearly across functions.

Requirements

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and familiarity with state-of-the-art embedded electrical design.
  • Hands-on experience turning ideas into hardware.
  • Experience solving ambiguous, open-ended problems by creating workable designs.
  • Curiosity about difficult problems and motivation to learn unfamiliar systems.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate risks and solutions clearly.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required; offers may be conditioned on authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without export-license sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, computer science, robotics, physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience designing and shipping electrical systems.
  • Experience developing and debugging electrical prototypes, harnesses, or cable assemblies.
  • Deep understanding of PCB design and integration.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and related electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring documentation.
  • Experience designing motor drives or actuator control systems.
  • Experience with MCU platforms such as STM32, ESP32, or similar.
  • Experience with peripherals and interfaces including I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, EtherCAT, or similar.
  • Familiarity with high-power electronics, thermal design, mechanical CAD workflows, and hardware integration processes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Startup environment focused on rapid innovation, advanced manufacturing, and national security.
  • Performance-based incentives and equity participation.
  • Healthcare, dental and vision coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off.
  • Funding for continuing education, training, and career growth.
  • Compensation tiers are presented transparently; most offers include competitive equity grants.
