Embedded Test and Validation Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Philadelphia, PA, United States

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year, based on experience and location.

What you will do

• Develop and execute integration and validation strategies for embedded hardware, software, and firmware from prototypes through production readiness.
• Investigate hardware, firmware, and communication issues and drive root-cause resolution with multidisciplinary design teams.
• Design test procedures, develop fixtures, and improve laboratory environments to increase verification efficiency and reliability.
• Develop production test methods and collaborate with manufacturing partners during scale-up.
• Identify reliability, performance, and manufacturability improvements through hands-on testing and engineering analysis.
• Support product releases, special deployments, and field investigations with engineering, program management, and customers.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on integration and validation experience with embedded hardware and software or robotics products.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and laboratory test equipment.
• Experience developing and executing requirement-based, HIL-based, and SIL-based test procedures and documenting technical findings.
• Working knowledge of wired and wireless communications, including Ethernet, BLE, Wi-Fi, CAN, or LTE.
• Python scripting skills for test utilities, data analysis, and improving test efficiency.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jama, TestRail, Jira, or similar engineering tools.
• Experience with CAN, CANopen, J1939, or industrial communication systems.
• Familiarity with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
• Experience with environmental, reliability, or EMI/EMC testing.
• Exposure to manufacturing test processes and production environments.
