Platform Engineering Lead / Architect (Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services) (AWS)

Location: Fully remote, limited to candidates residing in Alabama, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia. The role may require occasional travel to client sites or company meetings.

Salary: $120,588–$170,000 annual hiring range; published range $120,588–$195,955, plus discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction and govern AWS architecture for a large-scale federal healthcare data platform using EKS, EC2, RDS, and multi-VPC environments.
• Design application and system integrations, including enterprise identity and access management with SSO/IAM.
• Lead Kubernetes, container orchestration, hardened image, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code strategies using Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Ensure architecture meets federal data privacy and security requirements, including NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP or similar frameworks.
• Guide developers and platform engineers, advise customer leadership on technology selection, and present technical approaches during reviews and oral presentations.
• Manage delivery risks, align stakeholders with product and project goals, mentor engineers, and serve as a trusted technical advisor.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combined education and experience, plus a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Expertise designing and operating production AWS cloud architectures with EC2, EKS, RDS, and multi-environment VPC design.
• Enterprise-scale Kubernetes and container orchestration experience, including hardened, CIS-benchmarked, STIG-hardened, or agency gold images.
• Experience leading application, system, identity, and access integrations, including SSO/IAM.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub, and Artifactory, and applying Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Ability to advise on technology selection and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of data privacy and IT security principles, including NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP or similar federal frameworks.
• Experience designing monitoring, logging, and observability for production cloud systems, such as Datadog, Splunk, or CloudWatch.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing large databases and enterprise service solutions.
• Experience with federal government cloud environments, particularly federal healthcare agencies.
• Knowledge of Drupal/PHP application architectures.
• Familiarity with Datadog and Splunk.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
