Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering

Salary: €88,000–€92,000 EUR base salary annually

What you will do

• Manage a team of seven platform and infrastructure engineers across Portugal and the US.
• Run production infrastructure across Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Azure, CI/CD, secrets management, observability, and the internal management platform.
• Own the internal management platform built with Go, Temporal, and GraphQL, which provisions services, manages secrets, operates Kubernetes, and deploys applications.
• Operate the security program with InfoSec, including cloud posture, vulnerability management, secrets rotation, and access management.
• Deliver platform migrations, version upgrades, cost reduction initiatives, and new platform capabilities.
• Represent infrastructure to product teams, engineering leadership, finance, and procurement while balancing roadmap work with reactive incidents.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineers in an infrastructure, platform, or SRE context.
• Strong tactical judgment, including unblocking migrations, making decisions during incidents, and prioritizing when work is urgent.
• Ability to protect the team’s focus against external requests without becoming a bottleneck.
• Ability to work effectively with senior, opinionated engineers while preserving their autonomy.
• Clear written communication and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
• Comfort with ambiguity and change.

Nice to have

• Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS; coding is not required, but the ability to follow technical discussions and ask effective questions is expected.
• Experience with cloud cost management and vendor negotiation.
• Experience in a security-conscious environment, including SOC or ISO audit exposure and vulnerability management programs.
• Experience managing teams across time zones.
