Quantitative Researcher, Evidence Synthesis & Meta-Analysis (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States or from AIR offices in Arlington, Virginia; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; Sacramento, California; or Austin, Texas. U.S. territories are excluded.

What you will do

• Design research protocols and transparent, reproducible workflows for systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
• Conduct literature screening, data extraction, quality assessment, effect-size calculation, and meta-analysis across diverse research designs.
• Apply advanced quantitative methods to randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, single-case designs, and impact evaluations.
• Develop evidence-review frameworks, quality standards, and evidence-rating criteria for clearinghouses and research syntheses.
• Collaborate with clients and subject matter experts, develop tools and software, and deliver training on evidence-synthesis methods.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, presentations, proposals, and methodological guidance while managing projects and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D., in education, statistics, research methods, or a related field, plus demonstrated experience conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
• Experience with literature screening, study coding, data extraction, effect-size calculation, and quantitative synthesis.
• Knowledge of randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs, study-quality assessment, impact evaluation, and evidence synthesis.
• Experience applying evidence standards, review criteria, or evidence-rating frameworks in research syntheses, evidence clearinghouses, or related initiatives.
• Expertise in meta-analytic modeling, assessing heterogeneity and variation in effects, and evaluating selective reporting bias.
• Ability to assess methodological rigor and translate research evidence into transparent, defensible ratings or recommendations.
• Ability to communicate complex methods and findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in a statistical programming language or software, such as R, and ability to learn new statistical and methodological tools.
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; employment-based visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available. Certain projects may require additional residency eligibility.

Nice to have

• Experience with or interest in applying AI-enabled tools to literature screening, coding, data extraction, or other evidence-synthesis activities.
