Managed Services Engineer (Microsoft)

Location: US - Remote

Base salary: $70,000–$110,000 annually. Estimated on-target earnings including base salary and bonus/commissions: $85,000–$140,000.

What you will do

• Implement, administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments and Microsoft infrastructure services across multiple MSP customer environments.
• Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, file and print services, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid identity synchronization.
• Install and maintain Microsoft and third-party server applications, middleware, web services, dependencies, and integrations.
• Participate in server builds, migrations, hardware refreshes, data center modernization, security hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, and privileged-access practices.
• Implement and support highly available and resilient solutions using clustering, load balancing, virtualization, backup, replication, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Create PowerShell automation and operational documentation; collaborate with customers and cross-functional technical teams, and participate in on-call support for critical incidents and service restoration.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience as a Systems Engineer, Windows Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, or similar role in an MSP or enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge of current Windows Server versions, including installation, configuration, lifecycle management, patching, security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, trusts, replication, authentication, and identity troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting IIS, Remote Desktop Services, Windows file services, failover clustering, Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure dependencies, and enterprise applications.
• Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware virtualization, including virtual machine lifecycle management, clustering, capacity, performance, and high availability.
• Working PowerShell skills for administration, data collection, and repeatable operational tasks.
• Familiarity with enterprise server hardware and storage platforms, including firmware, drivers, RAID, SAN/NAS connectivity, multipathing, and hardware diagnostics.
• Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery for Windows workloads and applications.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, name resolution, certificates, network troubleshooting, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure integration, and hybrid management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, customer service, prioritization, ownerhirify.globalp, and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
• Ability to support multiple customer environments, work with customer stakeholders and senior technical resources, follow implementation plans, contribute to migrations and testing, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications in Windows Server, hybrid administration, identity, security, or Azure, or comparable demonstrated expertise.
• Experience with Microsoft System Center, Windows Admin Center, endpoint or server management platforms, monitoring tools, and configuration-management technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory Federation Services, public key infrastructure, SQL Server administration, or other specialized Microsoft server products.
• Experience in regulated environments and with PCI DSS, HIPAA, CIS, or NIST controls.
• ITIL Foundation certification or practical experience with incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
