Associate Director, Outcomes Research (AI)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end retrospective database analyses and architect study protocols aligned with rigorous HEOR/RWE standards.
• Advise biopharma clients on first-in-kind study designs and identify novel methodological solutions for complex problems such as rare disease characterization and biomarker validation.
• Develop and validate methods involving external control arms, causal inference in high-dimensional data, and longitudinal clinical and molecular/genomic data.
• Lead scientific dissemination through peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations at conferences including ISPOR, ISPE, and ASCO.
• Partner with Data Science, Biostatistics, Product, Key Account Directors, and Business Development to scale successful methods across the Tempus ecosystem.
• Manage a small team of outcomes research scientists, ensuring regulatory and ethical quality under standards such as GEP and HIPAA.

Requirements

• PhD preferred, PharmD, or Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of HEOR/RWE experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Deep expertise in oncology is required.
• Proven experience developing or implementing advanced analytical methods, including target trial emulation, propensity score applications in complex cohorts, causal inference, or machine learning-augmented epidemiology.
• Advanced skills in R or SAS.
• Essential experience working with messy real-world data such as EHR, claims, and/or genomic data.
• Ability to simplify complex methodological challenges into clear strategic roadmaps for biopharma executives.
• Demonstrated experience managing junior scientists and leading cross-functional squads in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
