Technical Procurement Engineer (Energy)

Location: Knowsley/Liverpool, United Kingdom; hybrid working with UK and overseas travel as required

What you will do

• Support proposals, business development, bids, and tenders by reviewing requirements, assessing supply chain risks, and developing procurement strategies.
• Research markets, identify and pre-qualify suppliers, evaluate quotations, and negotiate pricing and contractual terms.
• Create procurement plans aligned with project schedules, technical specifications, commercial targets, quality, and delivery standards.
• Support and lead contract negotiations, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and mitigate supplier and supply chain risks.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, Legal, Finance, Project Management, Sales, and customers on procurement strategy and supplier capabilities.
• Maintain procurement records, supplier evaluations, contracts, and commercial documentation while preparing performance reports and analysis.

Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management.
• Experience supporting tender and bid processes in a project-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
• Experience developing procurement strategies for complex projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Nice to have

• CIPS qualification or progress toward a professional procurement accreditation.
• Experience in engineering, power generation, energy, construction, or industrial sectors.
• Knowledge of international procurement practices and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in multinational project environments.
