Data Engineer - The Netherlands (Databricks)

Location: Hybrid work from offices in Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Capelle aan den IJssel, or Amstelveen, Netherlands

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and jobs primarily using Databricks.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Work with Databricks Jobs, pipelines, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Collect, clean, transform, and load data for analytics and reporting using Python, PySpark, and Pandas.
• Apply unit testing, code reviews, data governance, CI/CD, Git integration, and automation.
• Collaborate with Agile/Scrum and DevOps teams to improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a comparable role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including Jobs, pipelines, Unity Catalog, and Asset Bundles.
• Solid Python programming skills with experience in PySpark and Pandas.
• Experience with data-governed environments, CI/CD, Git, version control, and automation.
• Affinity with and knowledge of mathematics and statistics.
• Familiarity with Scrum, Agile, and DevOps ways of working.
• Proactive, positive, and eager-to-learn mindset.

Nice to have

• Background in software development or computer science.
• Fluency in English and Dutch.
