Data Engineer – Investment Management (Azure)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working. The role is available for 32–40 hours per week and allows working abroad for up to 2 months per year.

Salary: gross monthly salary of €5,500–€7,000, depending on knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Build and continuously improve reliable data products, pipelines, transformations, and components for investment and sustainability data.
• Design data models that turn complex data into structured, reusable datasets.
• Implement automated data-quality checks, engineering tests, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices.
• Improve the reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability of the data platform.
• Contribute to engineering standards, architecture, technology choices, and software-development practices.
• Collaborate with investment, risk, reporting, and engineering specialists to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, engineering, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Approximately five years or more of relevant data engineering experience; software engineering experience is nice to have.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with distributed data processing, such as PySpark or an equivalent technology.
• Understanding of data modelling, data quality, and automated testing principles.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms; Azure and Databricks experience is particularly relevant.
• Comfort working with Git, CI/CD, and modern software-development practices.
• Ability to take ownership from solution design and development through production, collaborate with engineers and business specialists, and continuously improve technology and team practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with investment, financial, or sustainability data is valuable but not essential.
• Software engineering experience.
