Data Engineer (Azure Databricks) in the EU

Location: EU countries only: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Fully remote, office-based, or hybrid work is available.

Salary: EUR 2,800–4,550 gross per month. Final compensation depends on experience, location, and professional growth.

What you will do

• Build and maintain multi-layer Landing, Raw, Enriched, and Curated data pipelines on Azure Databricks using Spark and Delta Lake.
• Orchestrate Databricks Jobs and Workflows with dependencies, retries, alerting, and failure handling.
• Implement batch and API-based ingestion, schema enforcement, schema-drift handling, and ingestion-time data quality checks.
• Use dbt for pipeline observability, data governance, documentation, and reusable data models.
• Monitor job failures, data freshness, pipeline health, and SLA-based delivery targets.
• Support controlled Dev, Test, and Prod environments, CI/CD, and MLOps/AI pipelines on Databricks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of commercial Data Engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, dbt, and multi-layer data pipelines.
• Experience with batch and API ingestion, data quality checks, schema management, orchestration, alerting, logging, and retry strategies.
• Knowledge of access control, audit trails, data lineage, data contracts, segregation of duties, and traceability across controlled Dev, Test, and Prod environments.
• Ability to deliver against SLAs and maintain clear pipeline documentation.
• English at Upper-Intermediate level or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, enterprise integrations, and Git-based CI/CD.
• Experience with MLOps and AI pipelines on Databricks.
• Exposure to GxP, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology domains.
• Strong SQL, dimensional modeling, dbt analytics engineering, Power BI, Tabular Editor, and metadata-as-code experience.
