Payroll Analyst (Fintech)

Location: San Diego or Mountain View, California; Frisco, Texas; or Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Base pay: $87,500–$118,000 in San Diego; $95,500–$129,000 in Mountain View, California.

What you will do

• Review and approve payrolls and provide backup support to the Senior Payroll Analyst.
• Collect, audit, reconcile, and validate payroll inputs from timekeeping, HRIS, third-party vendors, Workday, and ADP.
• Analyze payroll results using reports, audits, macros, and established controls before payroll completion.
• Reconcile payroll general-ledger accounts and partner with Accounting to resolve discrepancies.
• Perform root-cause analysis, define corrective and preventative actions, and review processes for improvement and standardization.
• Prepare standard operating procedures and advise managers, directors, and Payroll Specialists on payroll policies and actions.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in payroll-related responsibilities.
• Solid knowledge of payroll principles, including time reports, payroll hours, salary differentials, overtime, vacation, sick leave, and benefit accruals.
• Knowledge of wage-and-hour laws and federal and state tax legislation.
• Ability to independently apply documented rules, past practices, and instructions; handle ambiguity; protect confidential information; and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with heavy workload, conflicting priorities, and frequent interruptions.
• Proficient computer, organizational, analytical, research, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to run and analyze reports, learn processes quickly, complete self-initiated training, and remain current on payroll practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• CPP or FPC certification.
• Experience with Workday and SAP/ADP GlobalView systems.
• Understanding of payroll processing in a shared-services environment.
