TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (FEA): Designing, analyzing, prototyping, and qualifying complex networking systems from concept through production with an accent on structural FEA, chassis development, dynamic testing, and product reliability. Focus on correlating simulations with test data, resolving mechanical issues across NPI and manufacturing, and validating design changes through simulation and laboratory testing.
Location: Onsite in Sunnyvale, California, 94089, United States
Salary: USD 124,000–251,000 annual base salary in California; variable incentives may also be offered.
Company
hirify.global is a global edge-to-cloud company developing solutions that connect, protect, analyze, and act on data and applications.
What you will do
Develop and own structural FEA simulations for NPI projects and sustaining issues, continuously improving model accuracy through test correlation and refinement.
Provide mechanical design guidance from concept through production, including chassis, packaging, fixtures, high-density electronic assemblies, and manufacturability.
Support MDVT and HALT activities through laboratory testing, test-data analysis, root-cause investigations, and validation of corrective design changes.
Document static, modal, dynamic, thermal, and structural analyses for design reviews and maintain responsibility for system structural integrity.
Collaborate with ASIC, hardware, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and cross-functional teams on 3D models, connector placement, floorplans, production yield, and technical risks.
Contribute to mechanical specifications, validation plans, design guidelines, project scoping, resource estimates, schedules, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in electromechanical product development.
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent.
Experience developing networking, server, storage, telecommunications, or high-performance computing systems.
Extensive experience with chassis development, system packaging, high-density electronic assemblies, and complex system-level mechanical design.
Extensive experience with FEA and ANSYS Workbench, including static structural, modal, transient mode superposition, Eigenvalue-Buckling, and steady-state thermal analysis.
Strong hands-on experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, stack-up analysis, CAD, prototyping, and structural analysis.
Expert-level proficiency with 3D solid modeling tools and experience with sheet metal, machining, castings, extrusions, plastics, tooling, and volume-production processes.
Experience with meshing, model simplification, load-path analysis, dynamic testing, accelerometer data, strain-gauge applications, and test-data analysis.
Knowledge of GR-63, IPC-9704, ASTM D4169, NEBS, EMI, EMC, safety, regulatory compliance, ECAD-MCAD integration, and IDF workflows.
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, lead root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, communicate technical recommendations, and influence cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Nice to have
SolidWorks experience and working knowledge of EPDM or equivalent PLM systems.
Experience with LS-Dyna, response spectrum analysis, die warpage and heatsink loading, dye-and-pry, Shadowmoire, and 3D-scanning metrology equipment.
