What you will do

• Prepare civil engineering plans and construction documents for municipal roadway, storm drainage, and water infrastructure projects.
• Develop Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, assemblies, grading, pipe networks, pressure networks, and cross sections.
• Produce roadway plan and profile sheets, grading plans, typical sections, construction details, drainage designs, and water infrastructure plans.
• Generate earthwork and design quantities and incorporate survey, utility, GIS, and engineering information into design models.
• Identify conflicts among roadway, drainage, water, and existing or proposed utilities.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers, develop design alternatives, and incorporate QA/QC, client, and agency review comments.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of civil design experience, preferably on municipal or public infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, including surface creation and management, alignments and profiles, corridor modeling, assemblies and subassemblies, feature lines and grading, pipe networks, plan and profile production, and cross sections.
• Experience preparing construction plans for roadway, storm drainage, and water infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of civil engineering design and construction document standards.
• Ability to interpret survey information, engineering markups, utility information, and design criteria.
• Ability to work independently on design assignments with direction from engineers and project managers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with Harris County infrastructure projects and local design requirements.
• Experience with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with GIS data and mapping.
• Experience coordinating survey, roadway, drainage, and utility information.
• Experience supporting projects from preliminary design through final plans and construction documents.
