Storage Engineer (TS/SCI)

Location: Herndon, VA, United States; 100% full-time in-person work in a high-security environment

Salary: $120,000–$160,000–$176,000 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area; other states use geographic cost-of-labor ranges.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage enterprise storage for secure, mission-critical environments.
• Provide high availability, redundancy, data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery across multiple data centers and physical sites.
• Monitor and optimize storage performance, capacity, scalability, and service continuity, including SAN utilization and allocation planning.
• Assess infrastructure, apply updates and patches, troubleshoot performance, connectivity, hardware, and data-access failures, and perform root cause analysis.
• Maintain storage architecture documentation, configurations, procedures, and operational guidance while supporting security and compliance.
• Collaborate with systems, platform, virtualization, networking, and application teams to integrate storage into HPC and private-cloud test and operational environments.

Requirements

• Current Top Secret/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph required. Applicants without the required active U.S. Government clearance are not eligible.
• U.S. citizenship required. Certain roles may also require U.S. person status under U.S. export control/ITAR rules.
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements within one month of starting through Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
• Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited university, or three additional years of storage operations experience instead of the degree.
• 8 years of related experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense systems, including 5+ years in storage operations or storage engineering.
• Experience with backup solutions, storage infrastructure, storage systems, systems architecture, and SAN administration, architecture, and full-lifecycle support.
• Experience monitoring storage utilization, planning capacity, and adjusting storage requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and communicate findings to technical teams and stakeholders.
• Strong documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working in air-gapped or disconnected environments.
• Experience with VMware, OpenShift, or OpenStack virtualized environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Dell/EMC storage and hyperconverged infrastructure.
• Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux and maintaining physical data-center hardware.
• Knowledge of storage, virtualization, networking, data migration, and disaster recovery.
• Experience supporting HPC or private-cloud infrastructure in secure, classified, or restricted environments.
