Senior Infrastructure Engineer (VMware)

Location: Hybrid – Minneapolis, MN, with on-site work at the Minneapolis office and data center as needed. The selected candidate is expected to start in January 2027.

Salary: $108,200–$115,700 USD annual salary plus bonus.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, operate, monitor, and improve server hardware, VMware Cloud Foundation environments, enterprise storage, and backup systems across production environments.
• Administer Pure Storage arrays, including provisioning, capacity and performance monitoring, snapshots, and upgrades.
• Administer Rubrik backup and recovery, including SLA policies, monitoring, restore testing, and RPO/RTO reporting.
• Rack, stack, cable, patch, label, power, and decommission data center equipment while maintaining accurate asset and rack records.
• Develop automation and infrastructure as code for provisioning, configuration, patching, and reporting; partner with Development and Product Management to scale production systems.
• Provide documentation, cross-training, capacity management, future-state recommendations, on-call support, and infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience working in an enterprise infrastructure environment.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation, including vSAN, NSX, and SDDC Manager.
• Experience administering Windows Server and Linux, including Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, or similar, as VM guests and physical hosts.
• Working knowledge of data center networking at an associate network engineer level, including VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, routing and switching basics, and TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP troubleshooting.
• Experience administering Pure Storage, Rubrik backup and recovery, data center rack power and PDUs, and physical copper and fiber cabling.
• Experience with scripting and infrastructure as code using tools such as PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, or Terraform, plus Git-based workflows.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with VMware Live Recovery, including disaster recovery plans, failover testing, and cyber recovery.
• Associate-level networking certification or equivalent experience, with hands-on Cisco or similar switch configuration and troubleshooting, including VLANs, LACP, spanning tree, and IP subnetting.
• VMware, Pure Storage, or Rubrik certifications.
• Knowledge of storage networking, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS.
