Senior Pre-Sales System Engineer (Storage)

Location: Remote, New York; role associated with Albany, New York

Annual base salary: $156,100–$234,500 USD, with possible incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Understand customer business drivers and connect hirify.global and ecosystem technologies to measurable business outcomes.
• Partner with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to develop customer strategies, grow revenue, and win new business.
• Provide technical leadership on storage products, distributed storage architectures, file systems, and DAS, NAS, and SAN offerings.
• Lead evaluations, benchmarks, system configurations, interoperability testing, and performance validation.
• Build and deliver technical product and architecture presentations, capture requirements, and translate business needs into solutions.
• Support alliance plans, technical marketing materials, competitive positioning, roadmap exchanges, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• Pre-sales experience and 5 or more years of relevant experience across technology, design, and communications.
• Experience supporting enterprise sales of storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software is preferred.
• Deep understanding of multi-tiered client/server and web-based computing architecture, design, and implementation.
• Experience targeting new prospects, converting them into clients, and contributing to or leading RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses.
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures, including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, and SAN.
• Experience with Linux, NFS file systems, Linux distributed network environments, distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory, storage subsystems, shared memory, cache architectures, and windowing systems.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native transformation, on-premises and public cloud environments, provisioning automation, and containers.
• Knowledge of VMware, local area networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking.
• Curiosity about technology, passion for explaining and demonstrating platforms to customers, and excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with modern web architecture, including LAMP, scale-out versus scale-up architectures, the AWS Well-Architected Framework, and microservices.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, containers, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures.
• Experience with storage-intensive applications and structured databases such as SQL and Oracle.
