Senior Platform Engineer (Infrastructure)

Location: Remote; open to candidates in the United States, Canada, or Mexico

What you will do

• Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and scale the Ruby on Rails stack.
• Plan, optimize, and automate infrastructure for continued growth.
• Implement monitoring and observability tools.
• Review feature code for performance requirements and debug production issues across the stack.
• Partner with feature engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate features safely and efficiently.
• Respond to reliability and security incidents from triage and mitigation through post-incident follow-up.

Requirements

• 5+ years of AWS experience and 3+ years of Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, including routing, firewalls, load balancers, CDNs, and VPCs.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or an equivalent web application framework.
• Expertise in profiling and benchmarking source code.
• Ability to conduct effective code reviews and identify potential performance problems before production.
• Experience with Datadog or other APM tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus experience with Site Reliability and Infrastructure Engineering for Rails applications.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed event and data stores such as Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, Memcached, or TimescaleDB.
• Knowledge of the fleet management industry.
• Experience using AI tools to automate repetitive work and accelerate infrastructure projects.
