Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/AWS)

Location: Remote, based in Türkiye; locations listed as Istanbul, Ankara, or İzmir.

What you will do

• Run production EKS clusters for Turkish products, including node lifecycle, upgrades, autoscaling, resource policies, networking, deployments, and observability.
• Lead the migration of relational databases from RDS to EKS using a Kubernetes operator, including replication, tested rollback, backups, and point-in-time recovery to S3.
• Operate highly available PHP, .NET, and Node.js workloads with zero-downtime releases, graceful shutdown, and right-sized scaling.
• Own GitOps delivery with Argo CD, deployment strategies, environment promotion, and infrastructure as code.
• Design cross-cluster and cross-VPC networking, controlled egress to Ministry systems, and Datadog monitoring with SLOs, APM, alerts, and audit-grade logging.
• Operate migrated databases and provide compliance evidence covering data residency, encryption, secrets, privileged access, backups, and Ministry audit requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years operating production infrastructure.
• Extensive production Kubernetes experience with both stateless and stateful workloads, including at least one Kubernetes operator.
• In-depth AWS experience, including EKS, networking, storage, identity, multi-AZ design, and cost awareness, or similar cloud experience.
• Experience with workload and cluster autoscaling, including KEDA, Karpenter, or similar technologies.
• Experience with GitOps, Argo CD or Flux, deployment strategies, and environment promotion.
• Experience with services, ingress, network policies, and cross-cluster communication.
• Experience with Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana, including SLOs, actionable alerts, application and database monitoring.
• Practical security experience with encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, and privileged access to clusters and databases.
• Comfort operating relational databases, daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, and ownership of every shipped line and manifest.
• Professional English at B2+ level and native Turkish are required.

Nice to have

• Experience running relational databases on Kubernetes through an operator and migrating databases between platforms.
• Disaster recovery design, including RPO, RTO, backup verification, and restore drills.
• Infrastructure evidence for ISO 27001, SOC 2, or health-sector audits.
• Experience with data residency constraints and AWS Local Zones.
• Telehealth media infrastructure experience with WebRTC, TURN, or SFU scaling.
• Prior contact with Turkish regulators or Ministry systems.
