Principal Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom, or Vilnius; hybrid model with 3 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design and operate Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS EKS, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades, networking, autoscaling, workload isolation, Helm, and Terraform.
• Define infrastructure patterns for PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Kafka, covering provisioning, access, backups, failover, retention, capacity, and performance.
• Build self-service tooling, Terraform modules, and golden paths that enable product teams to ship independently while maintaining stability and security.
• Lead resilience initiatives, including business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, and a sustainable on-call rotation.
• Support privacy-focused infrastructure, including Anonymous Mode, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 compliance.
• Improve observability so metrics, logs, and traces identify issues before they affect users.

Requirements

• Many years of experience in infrastructure, platform, SRE, or DevOps roles operating high-traffic distributed systems in production, with Principal or Staff-level scope and cross-team technical direction.
• Production Kubernetes experience with real workloads; EKS experience is preferred.
• Understanding of PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Kafka behavior under load and during failures, including connection limits, replication lag, hot partitions, consumer lag, and retention.
• Strong AWS knowledge and fluent Terraform skills.
• Experience with documentation-first communication and bringing distributed product teams along with technical direction.
• Awareness of AI automation’s impact on development and software delivery, with strong ideas about infrastructure support for AI-enabled development.

Nice to have

• Go or Python coding experience.
• Experience hardening infrastructure in high-compliance or security-sensitive environments such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI.
• Experience operating managed AWS data services including RDS, Aurora, MSK, and DynamoDB at scale, including migrations and major version upgrades.
• Experience scaling consumer platforms with millions of concurrent users.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, CKA, or CKS certification.
