Senior IT Systems Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: United States, remote

Salary: $135,000–$149,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary performance bonus and stock option grants.

What you will do

• Ensure 24x7 responsiveness and availability of production services and infrastructure, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Design and manage production monitoring using hirify.global wire data products and conventional tools.
• Design and construct secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud services and networks.
• Implement and improve human and automated operational and support workflows.
• Write maintainable, extensible code and contribute design documents, playbooks, diagrams, and knowledge-base content.
• Collaborate across network, systems, identity, security, and integration teams to improve infrastructure reliability and service capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Unix/Linux systems administration and software development.
• Proficiency with Shell/Bash and other automation tools in Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with distributed version-control workflows, such as Git.
• Competency in web infrastructure operations, including development and deployment.
• Experience or strong interest in cloud and serverless infrastructure.
• Understanding of virtualization platforms such as Linux KVM.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSH, DNS, LDAP, and TLS.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-team collaboration, self-directed problem solving, and consensus building.
• Security-focused operational mindset, willingness to handle undefined challenges, and ability to defend well-formed technical opinions respectfully.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud virtualization platforms.
• Windows and/or macOS competency, including support for Active Directory environments.
• Google Workspace administration experience.
• Understanding of firewall and security management principles.
• Knowledge of UDP, SMTP, NTP, SNMP, and Finger protocols.
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef configuration management.
• Experience configuring and deploying network switching and routing equipment.
• Strong attention to grammatical detail, including Oxford commas and double sentence spacing.
