Data & AI Architect

Location: Fully remote; occasional driving to client work sites may be required.

Starting compensation: $140,000 per year; final compensation is based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, market trends, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise data and AI platform roadmap and architecture, setting priorities and directing work across staff and engineering partners.
• Design and maintain dbt models, the semantic layer, and data-quality tests to keep reporting trusted.
• Administer PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, backup, recovery, and monitoring.
• Operate automated, repeatable pipeline deployments using Prefect and GitHub Actions.
• Implement access controls, data protection, encryption, and credential-management practices.
• Chair the Data Governance Committee and design secure AI integrations and AI-native applications from prototype through production.

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, data architecture, or a similar role.
• Strong SQL and hands-on PostgreSQL administration, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
• Experience with dbt or equivalent transformation tools and orchestration tools such as Prefect or Airflow.
• Working knowledge of Azure or a similar cloud, including networking and identity.
• Ability to build and maintain data pipelines and automation in Python.
• Experience building automated CI/CD deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions or an equivalent tool.
• Hands-on experience building with AI and LLM tools, including AI coding assistants or LLM integrations.
• Practical experience with role-based access, encryption, and credential management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional groups and explain technical decisions to non-technical audiences.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and bend for the duration of the shift; the role includes occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs and driving to client work sites.

Nice to have

• Experience with Claude Code or Model Context Protocol servers.
• Experience with containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Paylocity, or Sage Intacct data models.
• Experience leading data governance or working in managed services or IT services.
