Senior Architect - Data Platforms & Architecture (Azure)

What you will do

• Lead architecture and technical strategy for multi-team Azure modernization and transformation programs across applications, platforms, and data.
• Translate client goals into scalable designs, shared standards, reusable patterns, roadmaps, backlogs, and delivery approaches.
• Provide architecture oversight during implementation, including design and code reviews, integration alignment, guardrails, and performance and cost optimization.
• Communicate architecture decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives, and support client modernization roadmaps.
• Mentor architects, senior engineers, and technical leads; participate in hiring, calibration, and development planning.
• Support strategic pursuits, client workshops, reusable assets, enablement, and adoption of modern cloud, automation, and AI-assisted practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years delivering solutions in a primary technical domain, including 5+ years in solution architecture and leading development or engineering teams across multiple teams or workstreams.
• 8+ years in data engineering, including 4+ years architecting data solutions on Azure.
• Deep Microsoft Azure expertise with experience in Databricks and/or Fabric and familiarity with relevant messaging, compute, data, security, networking, and integration services.
• Experience designing and implementing modern data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouses, data mesh, and streaming pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and data engineering frameworks.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, including Stories and tasks, pipelines, and ARM templates for publishing code.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code, APIs, security, compliance, and master data management.
• Experience leading Azure-based modernization, transformation, or platform build-out delivery and maintaining alignment across hybrid and remote teams and time zones.
• Experience with AI-augmented development and integrating AI or machine learning capabilities through APIs, frameworks, or cloud-based AI services.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum at scale, consulting or professional services, backlog management, work slicing, and dependency handling.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to stay hands-on with architecture and implementation when needed.
