TL;DR
Digital Manufacturing Engineer - Manufacturing Data & Automation (Manufacturing Data/Automation): Building a connected manufacturing data environment across CNC machining, Renishaw probing, assembly, inspection, test, quality, and ERP/MES systems with an accent on equipment connectivity, automated data acquisition, and manufacturing analytics. Focus on developing Power BI dashboards, detecting process variation and bottlenecks, integrating shop-floor data, and converting manufacturing intelligence into measurable improvements in quality, productivity, traceability, and throughput.

Location: hirify.global, 110 Norfolk Street, Walpole, Massachusetts, United States of America

Salary: USD 86,391–129,588 annually

Company

hirify.global develops and manufactures defense-related equipment and systems.

What you will do

  • Develop automated methods to collect, structure, analyze, and govern data from CNC machines, assembly operations, inspection equipment, test systems, and other production assets.
  • Connect shop-floor equipment and manufacturing systems through MTConnect, OPC UA, APIs, PLC interfaces, industrial gateways, MQTT, and similar technologies.
  • Integrate manufacturing data with ERP, MES, PLM, QMS, SQL databases, historians, and visualization platforms.
  • Analyze CNC, Renishaw, assembly, quality, test, labor, downtime, throughput, and traceability data to identify process variation, bottlenecks, defects, and productivity losses.
  • Build Power BI or comparable dashboards, drill-down analytics, automated reports, and exception-based reporting for manufacturing KPIs.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, CNC programming, and IT/OT teams to support Lean initiatives, predictive approaches, and measurable process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Automation/Controls, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, digital manufacturing, manufacturing automation, industrial data systems, or a related manufacturing discipline.
  • Understanding of discrete manufacturing operations, including machining and/or assembly, plus CNC manufacturing processes and control architecture.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting manufacturing data.
  • Experience with databases and data manipulation, preferably SQL, and with Python or another programming/scripting language for data acquisition, automation, or analysis.
  • Experience developing manufacturing dashboards using Power BI or a comparable visualization platform.
  • Working knowledge of OEE, utilization, cycle time, throughput, downtime, scrap, rework, first-pass yield, and labor-performance KPIs.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and IT/OT organizations.

Nice to have

  • Renishaw probing and on-machine measurement experience, including probing cycles, dimensional verification, work-offset management, and measurement-result extraction.
  • Experience with Siemens SINUMERIK, FANUC, or similar CNC controls.
  • Experience integrating equipment with MES, ERP, PLM, QMS, or manufacturing historian systems.
  • Experience with discrete assembly data systems, digital torque/fastening systems, test equipment, inspection systems, or electronic work instructions.
  • Experience with SPC, process capability, dimensional trending, automated quality-data analysis, data pipelines, Power BI data modeling, and DAX.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, naval, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work across the manufacturing floor and manufacturing-data environment, combining process knowledge, equipment connectivity, data engineering, analytics, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and IT/OT stakeholders.
  • Success is measured through improved manufacturing visibility, reduced manual data collection, higher equipment and labor productivity, earlier process-variation detection, stronger traceability, and improved quality, cost, delivery, and throughput.
