Senior SQL DBA (SQL Server)

Location: Riverside, California, US; hybrid onsite. Contract-to-hire role with scheduled after-hours maintenance windows and on-call support as needed.

Salary: $120,000–$144,000 per year, with up to $144,000 annually upon conversion.

hirify.global is hiring for a large enterprise technology team supporting critical business applications and data warehouse systems.

What you will do

• Administer and maintain clustered and standalone Microsoft SQL Server environments, including 6 clusters, 27 standalone instances, and approximately 300 databases.
• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and availability; perform maintenance and performance optimization.
• Support SQL Server clustering, high availability, backups, restoration testing, disaster recovery, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot database and application issues, write and optimize SQL queries, and resolve complex production incidents with infrastructure, networking, application, and support teams.
• Support enterprise data warehouse platforms and contribute to database performance tuning initiatives.
• Maintain database configuration, operational, and disaster recovery documentation; participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience in a large enterprise environment.
• Expert-level Microsoft SQL Server administration experience, including monitoring, maintenance, performance tuning, clustering, and high availability.
• Extensive knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Experience with SQL Server patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server environments supporting SQL Server and complex enterprise network and infrastructure architectures.
• Advanced SQL query writing and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting SQL data warehouse environments and diagnosing complex database and application performance issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience considered.
• W2 employment only; C2C, 1099, and sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical production environments and large-scale environments with hundreds of databases.
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and database management tools.
• Experience working closely with application development and support teams.
• Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
