Platform Product Manager (AI)

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual salary: $90,000–$125,000, with potential additional bonus compensation.

What you will do

• Own the product lifecycle for internal developer platform capabilities, from discovery and delivery through adoption and iteration.
• Define the strategy for adopting AI coding assistants, internal AI agents, and AI-powered development workflows.
• Partner with engineering, Developer Experience, security, and technology leadership to identify workflow friction and define platform solutions.
• Prioritize the roadmap around engineering productivity, security, reliability, and platform evolution.
• Drive platform adoption through enablement, documentation, communication, and feedback loops.
• Define developer experience metrics and use data to improve adoption, environment spin-up, build and deployment times, and developer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or business analysis, ideally involving internal platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure products.
• Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, test automation, containerized or cloud environments, and developer security tooling.
• Experience gathering requirements from engineers or other technical users and validating solutions with them.
• Ability to translate user needs into clear requirements and prioritize MVP solutions.
• Experience working in Agile environments and with tools such as Jira and Confluence while managing competing priorities.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence engineering, security, technology leadership, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience with developer portals or internal developer platforms such as Backstage.
• Strong ownership and execution skills, including creating requirements, process flows, test plans, and roadmaps and driving projects from concept through delivery.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integrating AI agents with internal tools and data sources.
• Familiarity with generative AI and AI-assisted development tools, including their capabilities, limitations, and risks.
