Director, AI Datacenter Construction

What you will do

• Lead multiple concurrent AI data center builds, retrofits, and conversions from site diligence and design through energization, Level 1–5 commissioning, ready-for-service, and turnover.
• Build and lead site construction managers, project managers, and discipline leads while standardizing delivery playbooks, processes, and reporting across the portfolio.
• Direct multidisciplinary design reviews, utility and substation interconnection, permitting, outage planning, EPC coordination, and delivery across self-build, build-to-suit, colocation, and tenant-fit-out models.
• Deliver direct-to-chip liquid cooling, high-density power distribution, network and fiber integration, and rack deployment for AI/GPU workloads.
• Own budgets, EAC forecasts, contingency, value engineering, change control, contractor strategy, and procurement of long-lead equipment and structural steel.
• Lead tenant and executive governance, safety, QA/QC, commissioning, closeout, digital asset handover, and labor and incentive compliance.

Requirements

• 12+ years in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale construction, including 5+ years leading owner-side hyperscale or AI data center construction.
• Proven delivery of concurrent builds or multi-building campuses totaling 300MW+ of critical capacity with $1B+ capital budgets.
• Hands-on delivery of AI/ML-ready, high-density, or liquid-cooled data centers, including direct-to-chip cooling.
• Experience with self-build, colocation, and third-party delivery models, including tenant fit-outs.
• Working knowledge of civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems; MV/HV power distribution; substation interconnection; and Level 1–5 commissioning.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong command of EAC forecasting, owner’s contingency, change-order control, value engineering, and OFCI procurement.
• Experience standardizing construction processes and playbooks across multiple regions or programs, working with jurisdictions, inspectors, and building codes.
• Leadership experience at a hyperscaler, AI cloud provider, or large data center developer, with strong stakeholder alignment, negotiation, safety, and quality leadership.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, OSHA 30/40-Hour, or LEED.
• Military or public-sector engineering experience.
