Documentation Platform Engineer (TypeScript/React)

Location: Remote (United States); other eligible locations: Canada and the United States

Salary: $163,000–$204,000 USD base salary

What you will do

• Build, maintain, evolve, and support the customer-facing documentation platform, tools, content pipelines, API documentation, and search.
• Improve the documentation experience for homelabbers, developers, enterprises, and their agents.
• Maintain and expand docs-as-code tooling and publishing workflows for internal teams and external contributors.
• Integrate documentation with the hirify.global platform and implement designs and features with engineering, product, design, user research, and growth teams.
• Improve search and discovery infrastructure, monitor performance, and maintain scalability for millions of monthly visitors.
• Engage with open-source contributors through GitHub discussions, issues, and pull requests, and use research and experimentation to improve documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience building, extending, maintaining, and deploying documentation sites with static site generators such as Hugo or Docusaurus, or platforms based on NextJS, Astro, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with docs-as-code publication workflows and the effect of documentation on user awareness, adoption, and growth.
• Fluency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and React, with comfort using Python, command-line interfaces, shell scripting, and Git.
• Comfort with modern HTML and CSS and implementing designs provided by others.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and automation for content or documentation workflows.
• Ability to explain the impact and implications of LLMs as application-development tools and as consumers of published documentation.

Nice to have

• Open-source experience and comfort engaging with contributors through GitHub issues and pull requests.
• Understanding of how LLMs consume and interact with documentation.
• Understanding of multi-format content output, including HTML, JSON, XML, raw Markdown, PDF, and ePub.
