Software Engineer, Connect (AI)

Location: Remote in the US; San Francisco, US

Salary: $196,000–$294,000 base pay annually for San Francisco; compensation outside San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location.

What you will do

• Build provider integrations end to end, including authentication flows, token exchange, app registration, configuration UI, OAuth presets, and bespoke integrations.
• Own Connect infrastructure, including uptime, performance, secure credential and key storage, and developer experience.
• Design and implement authentication and authorization protocols for AI-powered applications with internal and external industry partners.
• Build secure event forwarding with inbound signature verification, project-scoped outbound identity, and correct deployment and environment routing.
• Extend SDKs, consent redirects, and framework adapters while reducing future provider integrations from custom code to configuration.
• Work directly with teams building on Connect and turn their feedback into platform improvements.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production backend or full-stack systems, including ownership of a service or platform surface rather than only a feature.
• Deep practical understanding of OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, and JWTs, including authorization codes, PKCE, refresh semantics, audience and scope restrictions, and token exchange.
• Experience identifying or fixing integration security issues such as SSRF, DNS rebinding, confused-deputy and mix-up attacks, redirect-URI validation, webhook signature verification, and tenant isolation.
• Strong TypeScript skills and comfort developing backend and frontend components.
• Experience integrating many third-party APIs, including undocumented behavior, non-compliant OAuth, inconsistent errors, and clean abstraction design.
• Ability to work with ambiguity, ship incrementally across a large surface, and communicate clearly with teams building on the platform.
• Experience leveraging agents and AI in the development workflow.

Nice to have

• Experience building or operating an OAuth authorization server, identity provider, or multi-tenant integrations platform.
• Experience with MCP, agent tool-calling, delegated access, or consent patterns.
• Experience with integration marketplaces, partner engineering, or webhook infrastructure at scale.
• Open-source contributions, particularly in authentication, Next.js, or agent tooling ecosystems.
