Head of Communications (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York or remote within the US, aligned with the ET/EST timezone.

What you will do

• Own communications strategy, priorities, narratives, and standards across channels.
• Build recognition beyond crypto through thought leadership, strategic writing, and media relationships across fintech, traditional finance, and financial media.
• Shape communications with partners, financial institutions, and investors to support go-to-market priorities and strategic relationships.
• Lead competitive positioning and communications for public criticism, regulatory and policy issues, and reputational crises with leadership and legal.
• Advise the CEO and leadership on sensitive communications decisions and audience response.
• Deliver high-impact initiatives hands-on using colleagues, agencies, and AI to increase execution capacity.

Requirements

• Experience owning a full communications function, including strategy, PR, executive, investor, and crisis communications, at a scaled fintech, financial services, or high-growth technology company.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex ideas into clear, persuasive narratives for different audiences.
• Experience handling regulatory communications, public criticism, or reputational risk.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to understand complex business models and translate them into effective communications.
• Ability to identify newsworthy stories and build credibility with audiences outside existing professional circles.
• Ability to use AI to increase personal capacity and execution speed without compromising judgment or quality.
• Strong ownership and autonomy, with the ability to identify opportunities and risks and act independently.
• Comfort working in fast-changing, ambiguous contexts across time zones and shifting priorities.
• Clear, concise asynchronous communication; collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to execute hands-on regardless of seniority.
