Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Build and maintain a self-service data trust platform for business users.
• Develop and optimize scalable data quality and data processing components using microservices, messaging systems, and APIs.
• Own features end-to-end, from design through production deployment and cloud operations.
• Collaborate with the product manager to turn customer problems into pragmatic features.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, mentor teammates, and promote thoughtful code reviews and design discussions.
• Make the platform agent-ready through APIs and MCP, and use AI coding agents in design, development, testing, and review.

Requirements

• Fluent Java skills; curiosity about or experience with Kotlin.
• Experience with complex backend applications, data-intensive engines, platform architectures, complex algorithms, and data structures.
• Ability to write and understand complex SQL queries and work with relational databases at scale.
• Experience building and operating distributed, scalable PaaS systems.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes or willingness to learn it.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex in daily development.
• Ability to write clean, documented, testable code and promote engineering best practices.
• Customer-oriented ownership and willingness to work in a collaborative engineering culture with mentorship, feedback, and shared ownership.

Nice to have

• Curiosity about or hands-on experience with LLMs, agents, and MCP; hands-on experience is a plus, not a requirement.
• Experience or interest in software architecture, databases, cloud operations, application security, identity management, problem solving, complex algorithms, or LLM-powered features.
