Test Environment Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Remote within the United States; the posting also lists Fremont / East Bay, CA.

Salary: $115,000–$165,000 annually.

What you will do

• Provision and maintain application test environments across development, integration, staging, and performance tiers.
• Automate infrastructure and configuration tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Coordinate application deployments, environment refreshes, service dependencies, and configuration changes.
• Monitor environment health, investigate failures, and resolve network, database, middleware, and application issues.
• Document environment architecture, runbooks, access procedures, and operational standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in environment engineering, systems administration, or application operations.
• Experience supporting Linux or Windows environments and troubleshooting application, middleware, and network dependencies.
• Working knowledge of Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting tools.
• Experience with deployment processes, configuration management, and environment coordination.
• Understanding of containers, virtual machines, databases, and application runtime components.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines used to deploy applications into test environments.
• Strong incident troubleshooting, documentation, coordination, and service-oriented communication skills.
• Experience working in iterative software delivery teams, including planning, defect triage, and release validation as appropriate.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, or comparable automation tools.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with service virtualization, test-environment monitoring, and environment scheduling.
• Relevant cloud, systems, or infrastructure automation certifications.
