Senior Subcontracts Specialist

Location: Adelaide or Melbourne, Australia; office-based with flexible work arrangements

What you will do

• Lead the full subcontract lifecycle, including market engagement, supplier prequalification, tendering, negotiation, award, administration, performance management and close-out.
• Develop subcontracting strategies aligned with project objectives, commercial requirements and risk appetite.
• Evaluate proposals, conduct cost and price analysis, document awards, and negotiate complex subcontract agreements.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, compliance, deliverables and commercial obligations during project execution.
• Manage variations, claims, extensions of time and dispute resolution activities with Legal.
• Advise project leadership and collaborate with project, commercial, procurement, legal and technical stakeholders on scope, schedule, budget and risk.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, Procurement, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
• Extensive subcontract management experience across sourcing, tendering, negotiation, award, administration, performance management and close-out.
• Strong commercial and contractual expertise, including the ability to negotiate, draft, interpret and administer complex subcontract agreements.
• Experience supporting major Defence programs, government projects or other highly regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of contractual compliance, governance frameworks, risk management and contractual flow-down requirements.
• Experience managing commercial risks, subcontractor performance issues, contract changes, claims, variations and dispute resolution.
• Ability to build effective relationships with project teams, subcontractors, technical specialists and client representatives, supported by strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Professional accreditation through CIPS, WorldCC or equivalent.
• Experience supporting major Defence and/or infrastructure projects.
