TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design Engineer (EMC): Developing and qualifying high-reliability PCBAs, cabling, interconnects, racks, and subsystem architectures for semiconductor lithography equipment with an accent on EMC, signal integrity, electrical integration, and hardware reliability. Focus on designing complex connectivity solutions, solving board- and system-level failures, leading qualification activities, and guiding multidisciplinary engineering and supplier teams.

Location: On-site in San Diego, CA, US; a flexible workplace arrangement may be available for suitable roles for up to two days per week remotely. The role requires on-site presence for work-related events, training, and meetings, and requires work in a clean room environment.

Base annual salary: $143,063–$209,825.

Company

Develop highly reliable electronic systems and connectivity solutions that enable hirify.global's EUV source and lithography technology.

What you will do

  • Lead electrical connectivity architectures covering PCBAs, cables, harnesses, racks, cabinets, and subsystem interconnects.
  • Define hardware requirements, specifications, interface definitions, validation plans, design rules, and layout constraints.
  • Design, review, validate, and qualify PCBAs for control, monitoring, and communication applications.
  • Drive EMC/EMI compliance, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, safety, reliability, and electrical architecture trade studies.
  • Lead troubleshooting, failure analysis, root-cause investigations, supplier design reviews, and technical risk mitigation.
  • Mentor engineers and collaborate with system, software, mechanical, manufacturing, service, support, supplier, and development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience in electronic hardware development, including at least 5 years designing PCBAs and electronic modules for semiconductor, industrial, aerospace, medical, automotive, or similarly demanding applications.
  • Strong analog and digital circuit-design fundamentals, FPGA design technology knowledge, and experience with PCBA design, schematic capture, component selection, design review, validation, and hardware release.
  • Experience developing electrical connectivity solutions involving cabling, harnesses, racks, enclosures, and interconnect systems.
  • Hands-on EMC/EMI design, qualification, emissions and immunity testing, plus grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity strategies.
  • Experience troubleshooting analog and digital electronics at board, module, and system levels using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and communication bus analyzers.
  • Experience with schematic capture and hardware design tools; Capital, XPedition, Altium Designer, or similar platforms are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and PCIe interfaces; understanding of MTBF, HALT, ALT, and DFMEA.
  • Experience with configuration management, engineering change processes, suppliers, and outsourced development partners; strong technical leadership, communication, troubleshooting, risk-management, mentoring, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • EMC certification and compliance testing to IEC, EN, CISPR, FCC, CE, or equivalent standards.
  • High-speed digital PCB design and signal integrity analysis, functional safety, and hardware qualification in regulated or high-reliability environments.
  • Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, industrial automation, motion control, precision mechatronic systems, or EMC-related field investigations.
  • SAFe Agile methodology experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration with global stakeholders, suppliers, and development partners.
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, and participation in the company 401(k) plan.
  • Eight hours of vacation leave per month and 13 paid holidays annually.
