Staff Software Engineer - Cloud Services (AWS/Python)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and long-term technical health of critical AWS cloud service domains.
• Define service boundaries, APIs, data contracts, integration patterns, and cloud-native failure-tolerant architectures.
• Lead improvements to scalability, availability, performance, reliability, disaster recovery, security, and cost efficiency.
• Champion infrastructure as code, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Improve developer experience through local development, deployment workflows, operational tooling, documentation, and runbooks.
• Mentor engineers, align teams on architectural trade-offs, and communicate technical strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years at staff level.
• Strong proficiency in Python and working experience in Java for backend and cloud-based services.
• Deep experience designing, building, and operating scalable enterprise-grade applications on AWS.
• Experience owning and evolving complex, distributed, long-lived cloud platform architecture, including refactoring, modernization, and platform evolution while maintaining delivery velocity.
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and with designing and evolving CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of observability in distributed systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development processes and tools.
• Ability to reason holistically about distributed systems, make sound architectural and operational trade-offs, influence technical direction across teams, and communicate clearly about architecture, risk, reliability, and long-term strategy.
