Staff Software Engineer

Salary: USD $140,400.00–$372,300.00 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and ship maintainable technical solutions that scale across multiple hirify.global services.
• Design and implement REST APIs and integrations between software components.
• Write architecture briefs and proposals, run code experiments, and build prototypes for planetary-scale systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship, pairing, code reviews, and support for extensible code.
• Own system health and quality, including on-call and first-responder rotations during live incidents.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline with production software experience, or an associate’s degree plus 8+ years, bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years, master’s degree plus 5+ years, doctorate plus 3+ years, or equivalent experience.
• Production coding experience in one or more of Go, Ruby, Rust, Python, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, or Java.
• 6+ years of experience building and operating high-scale web applications.
• 2+ years of experience designing and building REST APIs.
• 4+ years of experience working with distributed systems and scalable architectures.

Nice to have

• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python and platforms or technologies such as Ruby, React, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, MySQL, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, Datadog, Sentry, or Azure Data Explorer.
• Experience with large-scale cloud-based systems, database optimization, caching, distributed systems, and microservices.
