Embedded Software Engineering Specialist (Embedded Systems)

Location: Onsite in Mossville, Illinois, United States; work in the office five days a week. Up to 10% travel is required. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and enhance IO processing and system diagnostics software for NPI programs.
• Lead multiple programs by identifying deliverables, tracking budgets, developing software, and performing verification testing.
• Design and implement electronic control systems, including input and output components connected to electronic control modules.
• Determine failure modes and develop onboard diagnostic strategies, Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and related service features.
• Create detailed software specifications from high-level customer requirements.
• Identify, resolve, and manage software defects and issue-list submissions.

Requirements

• Knowledge of requirements-analysis tools, methods, and techniques, including eliciting, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Analytical thinking skills for identifying root causes and developing alternative solutions.
• Effective communication skills for accurately exchanging technical information and needs.
• Knowledge of software design and development tools and activities.
• Technical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, applications, or operations.
• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or a related field from an accredited school is considered for top candidates.
• Extensive engineering experience is typically aligned with the seniority of the position.
• Understanding of embedded programming in C or C++ and Matlab/Simulink.
• Strong foundation in system software development, embedded-system validation, and diagnostics; ability to collaborate across worldwide teams and functions.
• Detail-oriented, self-starting approach with a strong record of achievement and results.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Employment is subject to successful completion of a drug screen.
