Member Engineering Staff - Embedded Software Engineer

What you will do

• Translate requirements into maintainable software solutions for integrated systems and target hardware.
• Develop and evaluate hardware-software interfaces, operational requirements, and system designs with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Participate in requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, formal testing, peer reviews, and defect resolution.
• Develop software test plans, procedures, technical documentation, prototypes, and experimental evaluations.
• Investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions independently or with multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop software using Java, C, C++, Python, cloud application tools, and PaaS/IaaS technologies including VMware and OpenShift.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4 years of applicable experience, or a master’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Java, C, and/or C++, including debugging application and cloud-based applications.
• At least 1 year of experience debugging embedded applications on simulated and target hardware.
• At least 1 year of hardware-software integration experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with Rational Team Concert or Jira.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Agile Scrum experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Active Department of Defense SECRET clearance.
• Experience developing device drivers and software for integrated communication systems.
• Object-oriented design and implementation experience, with exposure to software modeling and UML.
• Knowledge of network architectures and protocols.
• Experience with commercial telephony packages such as Asterisk and communication systems including VOIP/DSL.
• Experience implementing Risk Management Framework security controls across application software.
• Experience with static analysis, code coverage tools, and automated test frameworks.
