Localization Production Intern (Anime)

Location: Hybrid position based in Culver City, California, with in-office attendance required at least once per week on Mondays or Thursdays. Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.

Target rate: $21.00 per hour; hourly pay with overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Support Japanese-to-English and English-to-Japanese translation and localization projects.
• Review translations, subtitles, and localized materials for accuracy, grammar, intended meaning, design, layout, and consistency.
• Support quality control of anime episodes, films, trailers, promotional materials, events, UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, title cards, booklets, packaging, and other production assets.
• Research anime, manga, video games, novels, and related source materials for localization projects.
• Maintain project trackers and update assignment and production deliverable statuses.
• Provide administrative production support, including purchase orders, invoices, shipping, and related coordination.

Requirements

• Professional working proficiency in English and Japanese, including the ability to read, interpret, and translate Japanese-language source materials.
• Strong English writing, grammar, proofreading, and communication skills.
• Must be enrolled in a college degree program and currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Japanese, Translation/Localization, Communications, Media, Entertainment, or a related field, or have equivalent relevant skills and experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, ask questions, and receive and apply feedback.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and/or Google Workspace.
• Self-motivated, energetic, creative, and able to act as a self-starter.
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.

Nice to have

• Previous exposure to localization, translation, subtitling, media production, or quality control.
• Strong enthusiasm for entertainment, including anime and Japanese pop culture.
