Int Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)

Location: Remote - US; occasional travel to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices is required for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual or annual meetings.

Salary: USD 111,900–139,900 per year

What you will do

• Manage, build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-based database infrastructure for a mission-critical SaaS application.
• Improve observability of database metrics and support database objectives for performance and availability.
• Identify operational toil with the DBA team and implement automation and processes to manage database systems at scale.
• Support Engineering and SRE teams with database migrations, query performance, and schema and design improvements.
• Perform operational workload management, performance troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Standardize configurations, deployment patterns, and operational processes across SQL Server and PostgreSQL; prioritize tickets, incidents, service requests, and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with relational database systems and 1+ year in a Database, SRE, or Engineering-related role.
• Hands-on experience administering SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Azure is preferred.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Coding or automation experience with PowerShell, C#, SQL, Python, or Go.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git.
• University or college education in Database Management, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Some on-call or after-hours work is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with other database management systems.
• Experience working with databases larger than 1 TB and managing large database environments.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Grafana, ClickHouse, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with AI tools, technologies, or AI-assisted development and automation.
