TL;DR
Senior Robotics Engineer, Production (Robotics/Manufacturing): Building and deploying robotic production cells for high-mix electrical wire harness assembly with an accent on motion planning, controls, perception, machine vision, and mechanical tooling. Focus on integrating learned robotic capabilities into reliable cells, transferring them to industrial engineering, and using production data to improve automation across manufacturing lines.

Location: Onsite at the Cypress, California facility, with regular time at the Redondo Beach, California facility. Applicants must be U.S. Persons under ITAR or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Salary range: $180,000–$220,000 USD, plus meaningful equity.

Company

hirify.global builds electrical wire harnesses on its own production lines for aerospace and defense customers and develops automation for complex manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Own robotic production cells from concept and rapid prototyping through deployment, validation, and operation on manufacturing lines.
  • Design system architectures integrating hardware, motion planning, controls, sensing, perception, software, and data.
  • Develop capabilities including perception, inspection, machine tending, fixtures, grippers, end effectors, and tooling.
  • Integrate learned skills and models into production cells and return production data and failure cases to robot learning work.
  • Hand off proven cells to industrial engineering while retaining ownership of the software, firmware, and data systems.
  • Develop repeatable cell designs, scope automation projects and business cases, evaluate vendors, and help mentor and hire engineers.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying robotic systems in production, including systems where you were the technical lead.
  • Rapid prototyping, testing on real hardware, and iterating to reliable results.
  • Experience programming industrial or collaborative robot arms such as UR, FANUC, ABB, or KUKA, including motion planning, calibration, and safety.
  • Hands-on experience with perception and controls on real robots, including sensing, machine vision, and closed-loop control.
  • Hands-on exposure to learning-based robotics, such as imitation learning, robot foundation models, or sim-to-real.
  • Strong Python and C++, robotics tools including ROS 2, motion planning, perception libraries, and simulation tools such as MuJoCo or Isaac Sim, plus tested and maintainable production software practices.
  • Mechanical design skills for designing fixtures and end effectors in CAD, getting them built, and iterating quickly.
  • Ownership of technical areas end to end, collaboration with senior engineers, and clear communication with technicians, engineers, and leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, robotics, or computer engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience shipping learning-based perception or manipulation into production.
  • Experience bringing automation onto a running production line and handing it to the operating team.
  • Experience scaling a cell design across lines or sites.
  • Industrial engineering or process improvement background.
  • Wire harness, cable assembly, or other high-mix assembly experience.
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards such as ISO 10218 or ISO/TS 15066.
  • Aerospace, defense, or AS9100 manufacturing experience.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or helping build a team.

Culture & Benefits

  • Onsite work at the Cypress facility with regular time at the Redondo Beach facility.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability coverage, plus health and dependent care FSAs.
  • 20 vacation days and 12 paid company holidays per year.
  • 401(k) retirement plan, meaningful equity, and a $50 monthly DoorDash credit.
  • Up to $100 per month toward a gym membership, stocked kitchen, team events, lunches, and occasional breakfasts.
  • Free parking, transit and freeway access, and an open office with shared spaces.
