DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Onsite at the customer site in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, 5 days a week; occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $115,199–$160,000 annually; $20,000 sign-on bonus if hired as an hirify.global employee.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS.
• Automate deployment processes and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable, rapidly scaling services.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into operational infrastructure.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and improve availability, performance, and operational tooling.
• Stay current with technologies and contribute to infrastructure improvements; help open or close the workspace as needed.

Requirements

• Must currently hold and maintain an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
• 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master's degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or another container orchestration platform.
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure services, including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, SNS, SQS, and Lambda.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible, plus application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in Python, Bash, or Go and work comfortably in a terminal-based environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Must hold DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, or be able to obtain it before starting.
• Must work onsite at the customer site in Ft. Belvoir, VA, 5 days per week, travel occasionally, and accommodate schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, Helm, AWS CLI, K9s, and other development or deployment tools.
• Experience or familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
• Willingness to perform occasional on-call work.
