Tech Lead Manager (Staff+)

Location: Remote, US; remote-first with regular in-person offsites.

Estimated base salary: $150K–$200K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Set technical direction for a product domain, contributing to architecture decisions, API contracts, and data models.
• Design, build, deploy, and monitor full-stack platform features across internal construction tools and customer-facing experiences.
• Write production-grade code and improve engineering quality, developer experience, and complex problem-solving practices.
• Directly manage 2–4 engineers through 1:1s, feedback, performance conversations, coaching, and career development.
• Own team planning, prioritization, execution, delivery outcomes, and recruitment.
• Partner with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders to translate real-world processes into reliable software and balance speed with quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record of shipping products with real-world impact.
• Experience as a tech lead, team lead, or engineering manager; prior direct management experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience building and delivering full-stack features across modern web technologies; the stack includes TypeScript, Node, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS, with willingness to learn rather than a requirement to match every technology.
• Actively use AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor in the daily workflow and be able to explain their impact and how to apply that leverage to a team.
• Demonstrated leadership and ownership through mentoring, influencing technical direction, and supporting other engineers.
• Experience designing systems that balance rapid iteration with long-term reliability and maintainability.
• Experience partnering with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements, make tradeoffs, and deliver outcomes.
• Clear, proactive written communication; ability to work autonomously and prioritize individual and team work with minimal oversight.
