2027 Summer Internship (US) - Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid internship in Holtsville, New York, United States, with at least 3 days of in-office attendance.

Salary: USD $30.00–$40.50 hourly.

What you will do

• Build backend AI agents for autonomous defect reporting, root-cause analysis, and QA workflow triage.
• Orchestrate Jira defect entry, prevent duplicate tickets, and maintain an actionable defect database.
• Automate extraction of debugging logs and test data for immediate troubleshooting context.
• Analyze historical test data to identify the last passing state and isolate regression origins.
• Retrigger failed tests across alternative configurations to validate failure boundaries.
• Collaborate with business units and stakeholders while expanding knowledge of Zebra’s enterprise hardware and software portfolio.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate MS/MA program in Computer Engineering or a similar field.
• Anticipated graduation date between May 2028 and May 2029.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.
• Experience with stateful multi-agent frameworks such as LangGraph.
• Familiarity with search and retrieval architectures, including Elasticsearch, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Appium, PyTest, or Robot Framework across physical and virtual devices.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for explaining AI and automation concepts to cross-functional teams.
• Adaptability, willingness to learn quickly, and comfort experimenting with evolving tools.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Git, and Jira.
• Commitment to ethical AI, data privacy, security, and confidentiality.
