AIOps Forward Deployment Engineer Intern, BS - Summer 2027 (AI)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States; onsite internship.

Expected base pay: $32–$65 per hour.

What you will do

• Work with a mentor and IT teammates to identify practical problems that AI or automation can address.
• Build scripts, workflows, or AI-powered prototypes for AI-assisted IT support and automation.
• Explore approved tickets, alerts, and knowledge articles to identify troubleshooting patterns and connect device-health, meeting-quality, or support signals through APIs.
• Test rules for grouping repeated alerts and identifying unusual patterns, then review missed issues and false alarms.
• Evaluate AI-assisted troubleshooting answers against technical evidence, document gaps, and propose improvements.
• Test and demonstrate the prototype while following privacy, security, and production-change review guidance.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, data science, AI/ML, or a related field, with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Passion for AIOps and interest in applying AI and automation to IT operations.
• Knowledge of the AIOps space, including emerging tools, approaches, use cases, and examples from reading, coursework, technical communities, or personal projects.
• Basic coding and debugging ability in Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or a similar language; coursework and personal projects count.
• Basic familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and Git, including retrieving sample data, inspecting responses, and tracking code changes.
• Hands-on experience with at least one AI or automation project through coursework, a personal project, or a hackathon.
• Foundational understanding of logs, metrics, alerts, and basic device or network troubleshooting concepts such as CPU usage, latency, and packet loss.
• Basic understanding of prompts, retrieved information, and why large-language-model answers may be convincing but incorrect.
• Ability to handle operational data responsibly, protect credentials, use approved tools, and seek guidance before automation takes action.
• Curiosity, willingness to learn unfamiliar tools, clear communication, collaboration with technical and nontechnical teammates, and attention to detail.
• Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled technology and software under applicable U.S. export control laws; some applicants may require export license review.

Nice to have

• No previous internship, professional AIOps experience, production deployment experience, or familiarity with hirify.global’s internal platforms is required.
