Business Unit Controller (SaaS)

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States

What you will do

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for one or more software business units in accordance with Partner One policies and US GAAP.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including revenue recognition, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Monitor performance against targets and provide variance analysis, insights, and key metrics including ARR, churn, deferred revenue, and EBITDA.
• Strengthen internal controls, improve accounting workflows, and support operational efficiency and financial integrity.
• Collaborate with centralized payroll, tax, treasury, and AP/AR teams on end-to-end finance operations.
• Support M&A integration, audits, statutory filings, regulatory compliance, and mentorship of local finance staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent designation is preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, including at least 3 years in the software industry or a complex, multi-entity corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience with financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting, and analysis.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct or NetSuite, plus strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote and international environment.
• Demonstrated success building teams and developing staff.
• Strong focus on process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies.
