Commissioning Manager (Electrical)

Location: Remote, Alberta, Canada; hybrid work with approximately 50–70% local and national travel to commissioning sites

Salary: $110,000–$140,000

What you will do

• Coordinate verbally and in writing with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and internal project team members.
• Conduct commissioning design reviews covering OPR, BOD, plans, and specifications, and review submittals and shop drawings.
• Perform construction site observation visits and prepare site observation reports.
• Develop project-specific Level 2 installation verification checklists, Level 4 functional performance tests, and Level 5 integrated systems tests.
• Conduct onsite testing and witness contractor activation and functional testing of equipment and systems.
• Manage the resolution of commissioning issues and support delivery of fully commissioned buildings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent MEP construction, commissioning, and project management experience.
• Experience in the design and/or construction of hyperscale data centers.
• Experience with equipment start-up and commissioning, including witnessing contractor activation and functional testing using test scripts.
• Detailed knowledge of medium-voltage gear, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, static transfer switches, power distribution units, and LOTO requirements.
• Comfort working around live components, three-phase AC power systems, DC power systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of engineering in the built environment, sequences of operation, functional test script documentation, and construction drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to respond effectively to sensitive situations.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification and NFPA 70E are required.
• A valid driver’s license and car are required.
