Intermediate Mechanical Designer (HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection)

Location: Hybrid, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada — 200 Granville Street

Base compensation: $72,500–$90,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and competencies.

What you will do

• Produce mechanical drafting and design work using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Develop HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing layouts with minimal supervision while maintaining design files and company standards.
• Set up heating and cooling load calculation files, including Carrier HAP inputs for senior review.
• Prepare preliminary motor lists, equipment selections, reports, and shop drawing reviews with senior staff.
• Assist Senior Designers, Project Managers, and Team Leaders with client relationships, progress meetings, site surveys, and stakeholder coordination.
• Support training for junior staff and review their work.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of AutoCAD experience, including academic and/or professional experience.
• At least 2 years of design experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for different building types.
• Ability to read architectural, structural, and electrical drawings with minimal supervision.
• Ability to apply prescriptive plumbing, building, and sprinkler code requirements, including NFPA, BCBC, and BC Plumbing Code, with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Revit MEP experience.
• Knowledge of energy modeling and calculations.
• EIT classification.
• University degree or college diploma specializing in Mechanical Engineering.
