Electrical Engineer/Designer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Hybrid, Burlington, ON, Canada; willingness to travel 30–50% is required.

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year, plus benefits, bonuses, and additional extra-hours payments.

What you will do

• Design, develop, analyze, and specify electrical control systems, associated hardware, safety systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Prepare bidding, scope, user, and system design functional-specification documentation.
• Perform risk assessments, specify panel fabrication, and oversee material procurement and logistics.
• Troubleshoot electrical installations, support commissioning, and prepare client-approved commissioning summaries.
• Conduct technical surveys and inspections, prepare reports, and coordinate contractor schedules, bidding meetings, walkthroughs, permits, and site requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor safety, quality, and budgets; develop construction budgets and work plans; make complex technical decisions and mentor less experienced designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education.
• 6+ years of experience in electrical control system design.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design and its effects on other disciplines.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Technical literacy across relevant technical areas and the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, projects, and industry changes.
• Strong knowledge of hirify.global’s business offerings, including Industrial IT and Systems Design.
• Experience conducting independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions involving complex or unusual matters.
• Ability to make responsible decisions involving long-range objectives and budget accountability.
• Experience mentoring and guiding less experienced designers.
• Willingness to travel between 30% and 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience with AutoCAD, PLC platforms and I/O systems, industrial communications, motor controls, field sensors, variable-frequency drives, servo motion control, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and safety monitoring systems.
