Senior Commissioning Agent (Mechanical)

Location: On-site in North York/Toronto, Ontario, Canada; frequent travel throughout Ontario and elsewhere in Canada is required, but travel outside Canada is not required.

What you will do

• Provide commissioning services through off-site development work and onsite physical verification.
• Use cloud-based commissioning technology and software to develop detailed functional performance test procedures.
• Complete onsite commissioning forms, verify systems, and identify deficiencies.
• Attend and chair commissioning meetings, take minutes, present progress, and answer contractor and client or owner representative questions.
• Identify completion requirements for contractors and support project coordination across commissioning activities.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering degree or a related technologist or technician diploma/degree.
• 5+ years of equivalent MEP construction, commissioning, and project management experience.
• Familiarity with the commissioning process; training will be provided.
• Understanding of thermal environments in mission-critical facilities, including hospitals, data centers, and CL2/3 biocontainment laboratories.
• Proficiency in psychrometrics and heat transfer principles, with comprehensive knowledge of current building, mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, fire, and energy codes.
• Experience with CRACs, CRAHs, AHUs, RTUs, VRFs, evaporators, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, adiabatic coolers, pumps, sensors, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and flowmeters.
• Understanding of Building Automation Systems, Methods of Procedure, Sequences of Operation, trend analysis, and Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing.
• Computer literacy with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Project.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to work within a team, meet tight deadlines, and respond thoughtfully to sensitive situations.
• Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable transportation; travel throughout Ontario to perform commissioning services is required.
• Personnel security clearance at Secret (Level II) or Top Secret (Level III) is required.
